Labrador: None Like It!

Labradors are naturally very affectionate and caring, and are thus, very patient with children. Unlike most dogs of its size and energy, it can be trusted with young ones. For, there is no other dog that can put up with as much pushing and pulling of the kids as a Labrador can.

Who doesn’t like being welcomed happily after a hectic day? But high tension life these days leaves little room for that leisurely cup of tea and the little family chit chat that your father or grandfather so fondly and so frequently recalls. Bring a Labrador home. Though he can’t bring a cup of tea for you unless specifically trained to do so, but can, for sure, come running like a small kid and jump right into your lap and shower you with its very own brand of unconditional affection laced with numerous good-evening licks.

That’s what a Labrador temperamentally is like. It is difficult at times to gauge their affectionate nature from their strong build. They are intelligent and obedient besides being very hardworking.
They come in a number of colors ranging from fawn, yellow, cream, chocolate to golden and black. The males stand at 22 to 24 inches and are about 60-75 pounds in weight. The females are around 21 to 23 inches tall and are 55-70 pounds on weighing scale.

Being as strong as they are, they must be taught not to pull on the lease, for there is every danger that it might yield to the enormous force they are capable of exerting. Labradors were bred as retrievers, which makes them able hunters, efficient tracks and ardent rescuers. They are excellent guide dogs as well for.

They are naturally very affectionate and caring, and are thus, very patient with children. Unlike most dogs of its size and energy, it can be trusted with young ones. For, there is no other dog that can put up with as much pushing and pulling of the kids as a Labrador can. They are very emotional too, so if they belong to your family they need to feel that they do. They would like to be around the family at all times. They also tend to reflect emotions. If you are sad and want to talk, you can bank on your Labrador. No matter he understands a word of what you say or not, he would, nevertheless, give a patient attentive hearing throughout. And if you cry, in all likelihood, it would lick the tears off your face.

Despite their size, they take well to urban life and living conditions. But they must be taken for a walk every day for fitness. They like to work hard and play hard. They are great defenders of the pack, too, so you don’t need to worry at night if a Labrador is around. He can pretty much take care of the surroundings all by himself. This dog, in short, has all that one looks for in a great pet.
